By full admission of the winemaker, this red still needs a couple of years of bottle time, and he is totally right — it gives a nose of too much oak, creamy vanilla wood that overpowers the fruit, while the palate is dominated by high acidity and harsher tannins that do not let the fruit shine. A valiant effort nonetheless that would age beautifully.
