Wine Cellers d'en Guilla

Bruel de l'Estany

2015
dry red

Cariñena, Garnacha Negra varietals.
Hand-harvested, grapes fermented at low temperature.

A "soul wine" of Empordà, this bottle was decanted for almost an hour to breathe and warm up — the wine opens up beautifully once it reaches proper temperature. The nose is full of warm and ripe notes: a melange of cassis, cinnamon sticks, pepper and leafy greens, blackberry and a touch of plum, burnt sugar and incense. The palate is balanced, with strawberry and blackberry jam, hickory and hot milk chocolate, sweet tobacco, a little bit of juniper and baking spices. A wonderful bouquet with an elegance that one may not expect from a red with 15.5% alcohol. It can stand a bit of aging but is perfectly fine to drink now.
